Neodymium Disc Magnet - 2.5mm x 2mm

Neodymium Rare Earth Magnetic Disc Product Description:

This small magnetic disc has a diameter of 2.5mm and a height of 2mm. Although it is tiny, it is extremely strong with an N42 magnetic grading. This Rare Earth Disc Magnet has a magnetic flux reading of 5597 Gauss and a pull force of 158 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 20100.

Uses For our Neodymium Disc Magnet:

Due to its small size, this Neodymium Rare Earth Disc is often used where a compact but powerful magnet is needed. It’s super strong magnetic N42 grading, makes it superior in strength to lower grade magnets of the same dimensions. This Disc can be used as a craft magnet in model making, however, it is most often employed in specialised industrial fields due to its strength.
Commonly used as a component in electronic equipment and many other types of mechanical apparatus where a specific pull-force is essential. The increased pull force provided by the N42 grade assists in maintaining magnetic energy and performance in applications with restricted space. Industrial Designers, Engineers, Fabricators and Manufacturers all employ these valuable magnets in their products.

wooden box lid

I used these magnets to hold the lid of a wooden box in the closed position, while making it very easy to open the lid, the magnets were the perfect soluton and I will use this method again in the future

Great item for hobby work

I've used these for pinning parts on a 28mm figures all the way to merging parts on a 1/250 scale enterprise. I strongly recommend these as they are hard to shatter and easy to fit.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
