This N48 Grade Neodymium disc is 4mm in diameter and 3.5mm high. It has a pull force of 0.526 kg and surface gauss reads 5947G. It is axially magnetised through the flat, round pole surfaces. The Neodymium core is has a nickel-based protective coating.
Magnets with dimensions in this range are commonly used in modern audio, sound recording and communications equipment. Neodymium magnets are highly suited to these technologies because of their reduced size and intense magnetic power that is permanent and inexhaustible. Product designers and engineers are particularly drawn to high-grade magnets such as the N48 Neodymium disc as it provides a greater amount of magnetic pull force for the same physical dimensions as that of a lesser grade. The disc has a nickel plating as is standard with most Neodymium magnets however other coatings are available for specialised applications such as Teflon, Gold and Epoxy to name a few. Alternative coatings such as these provide greater resistance to corrosion in humid environments where the magnets or the equipment they are housed within are likely to be affected by moisture.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
