Rare Earth Fishing Magnets
AMF stocks Neodymium Fishing Magnets for this increasingly popular pastime. Our powerful magnetic fishing magnets are made from super strong Neodymium Magnets, the strongest magnetic material available.
We stock a wide range of different shapes, pull forces and eyelet configurations. These provide options for different outdoor waters, canals, rivers, fishing environments and local infrastructure. We have a two eyelet fishing magnet available, so a rope can be attached from two directions. This allows for more controlled search patterns and to increase the chance of retrieving targeted items.
FAQ
What is magnet fishing?Â
Magnet fishing is a popular activity involving searching outdoor waterways for ferromagnetic or metal - objects that can be retrieved from waterways or difficult locations using a strong Neodymium magnet. Magnet fishing probably began as a simple solution for boat enthusiasts to recover fallen keys from the water using magnets. Magnet fishing as a hobby began to take off in the early 2000's, especially in Europe. Magnet fishing can recover metal debris such as discarded bicycles, safes, coins and car parts from bodies of water, and there is always the chance of finding rare and valuable items as well.Â
What size rare earth magnet do I need?Â
Neodymium Holding Pot magnets are perfect for magnet fishing and retrieving applications. These magnets have a powerful holding force, and some are capable of retrieving objects weighing more than 200kg. Smaller Neodymium magnets can retrieve smaller objects, and the size of your magnet will depend on your own capabilities and what sort of objects you want to retrieve. As well as the sheer strength of the Neodymium magnet, the Nickel coating and steel cap on the large Pot magnets help prevent any impact damage to the magnet. Thread locker is strongly recommended for magnet fishing to keep the eyelet from backing out.Â
What tools do I need for magnet fishing?Â
Typical magnet fishing equipment includes protective gloves, a bucket for storing catches and a Neodymium magnet attached to a durable rope between 15 and 30 metres. A grappling hook is also a useful tool to include in your Magnet Fishing kit. For safety it is recommended to use a pair of gloves to protect your hands from any sharp objects you may pull up with your magnet.
