Rare Earth Cylinder Magnets

Rare Earth Neodymium Cylinder Magnets can also be known as Rod Magnets. They are ideal for applications requiring the embedding of magnets with more than average length. These strong neodymium permanent magnets are able to generate a high magnetic pull force for their size.

AMF Magnetics Neodymium Cylinders come in a variety of sizes, dimensions and grades. We supply from grade N35 up to the strongest N52 Neodymium Cylinder Magnet available. To customise our cylinder magnets to your specific requirements, see our Design a Magnet page.

With superior size to strength ratio, these strong magnets are suitable for a wide range of applications and industries. Examples of the uses for Neodymium Cylinder Magnets include acrylic signage, picture frames and joinery. Relevant industries are the art display industry, mining, engineering, construction, lighting and Teaching facilities.

FAQ

What are the dimensions of a rare earth cylinder magnet?
Cylindrical magnets are sometimes also referred to as ‘rod’ or ‘tube’ magnets. Cylinder magnets have much bigger height or length dimensions compared to a disc magnet, which means that for Axially magnetised cylinder magnets, there is more magnetic material between the two flat poles at each end. The dimensions of a cylinder magnet mean it is able to produce more magnetic power than disc magnets.

What are the available sizes of rare earth cylinder magnets?
We supply magnets as small as 2mm in diameter and 2mm in height, with a pull force of 108 gm to large and extremely powerful magnets that stand more than 50mm high and with a diameter of up to 50mm. These large cylinder magnets have an astonishing 158kg pull force.

What are the benefits of using cylinder magnets?
Rare earth cylinder magnets are ideal for applications that require maximum precision gained through the powerful and narrow magnetic field. Small cylinder magnets are often incorporated into larger magnetic products such as electrical sensors, magnetic devices and magnetic tools.

Are cylinder magnets stronger than other magnet shapes?
Cylindrical magnets are considered the most powerful in terms of their ability to produce a strong, concentrated magnetic field. Cylinders made from rare earth Neodymium have more magnetic power than a disc shape magnet with the same diameter. With all circular magnets, varying the height dimension results in reduced or increased Neodymium material between the poles and this directly impacts the amount of magnetic power that the magnet can generate.
