Ferrite Magnets

Our ferrite ceramic magnets are very popular as they offer the greatest value for money. Ferrite magnets have only been around since the 1950s. They were developed to offer a lower cost alternative to other types of permanent magnets. Although they are not as strong as Neodymium Rare Earth magnets, they are often preferred because of their stability and cost-effectiveness.

Ceramic ferrite magnets are especially ideal for creating a deep magnetic field and are resistant to corrosion, despite being rather brittle. This is why they are the most common permanent magnets in use today. AMF Magnetics supplies these high-quality permanent magnets in several sizes and grades, to suit your specific magnetic needs. Ferrite magnets are for sale in a variety of shapes, dimensions and pull strengths. See our range of ferrite magnets for sale listed below.

Ferrite Magnet Applications and Uses

Ferrite Magnets are suitable for many uses across a broad range of industries and applications. They are commonly used in magnetic separators, motors, water conditioning assemblies, music speakers, handicrafts, science experiments and for many other purposes. Our popular ferrite disc magnets are often used in therapeutic uses, or as fridge magnets. Common industrial applications for these magnets include sweeping and separating unwanted metallic waste from areas where they pose some sort of threat. These magnets have an effective strength to cost ratio, making them the preferred choice of manufacturers.

Ferrite Magnetic Properties

Their specific benefits are that they are much more corrosion resistant than Rare Earth magnets. They have great temperature stability, resistance to demagnetisation and great cost-effectiveness. Ferrite magnets are made from a composite of the magnetic materials iron oxide and barium carbonate (BaC03), or strontium carbonate (SrC03). These materials are sintered by compacting fine Ceramic powder into a dye and then fusing it with heat to form a solid material. Due to the high coercive force of ferrite magnets, they are classified as hard materials. These magnets can be used in high temperatures of up to 250 degrees Celsius. Our Range of Ferrite Magnets

Ferrite Disc Magnets
Ferrite disc magnets, also called ceramic disc magnets, come in a variety of sizes. They are a low cost magnet and have a broad range of uses. Such as, on the back of three dimensional fridge magnets and in school science or craft projects.

Ferrite Block Magnets
Ferrite block magnets, or bar magnets, are often used in industrial settings. Large Ferrite block magnets are often used in sweeping and separation applications. Smaller Ferrite blocks are commonly used in DC motors, as sensors, and in various handicrafts.

Ferrite Holding Pot Magnets
Ferrite Holding Pot Magnets have a mild steel casing over a Ferrite Ring Magnet. They have a round central hole and can be fixed to non-magnetic surfaces using a bolt, rivet or screw. We stock products that hold up to 30KG. They are often used to attach items to walls or ceilings or for warehouse storage.

Ferrite Cylinder Magnets
Ferrite cylinder magnets can also be known as rod magnets because of their rod-like shape. They can be used to suppress high frequency noise in electronic circuits. Due to this, they are widely used in speakers for home and car audio systems.

Ferrite Ring Magnets
Ferrite ring magnets are a great versatile and multi-purpose magnet. They are often used in loudspeakers, resonance imaging and torque drives. Applications for this permanent magnet include holding, door closures, joinery, and light fixtures.

FAQ

What are ferrite magnets used for?
Ferrite Magnets can be used for countless applications across many different types of industries and settings. The most common uses are in magnetic separators, motors, water conditioning assemblies and music speakers. Ferrite magnets can also be used in handicrafts, science experiments and magnet therapy.

Are ferrite magnets strong?
Ferrite magnets are not as strong as other types of permanent magnets like neodymium magnets, but they offer a great cost to strength ratio. Ceramic ferrite magnets are great for creating a deep magnetic field.

Do ferrite magnets rust?
Ferrite magnets have great resistance to corrosion, making them a popular choice for humid environments.

Which is better: ferrite or neodymium?
Both neodymium and ferrite magnets have their benefits and can both be preferred for different needs and environments. Neodymium magnets offer unrivalled strength, however a strong magnet is not always needed. Ferrite magnets are the choice when you are looking for a cost effective magnet, with corrosion resistance and a deep magnetic field.
