Uses for our ferrite block magnets:

"Say your lines and don't bump the furniture". That’s the golden rule in live theatre. Maybe that’s because ferrite block magnets like these 39mmx5.6mmx2.9mm are used to hold various sets, like foam candelabras, tables and trees together for the duration of the show. A solid bump from an angry king or queen could result in the sudden collapse of fake balconies, forests or train carriages and send them crashing gently to the stage, taking the audiences’ suspension of belief with it.

Magnetic products begin working their magic for theatre well before the curtain goes up. Magnetic strips, some with a peel away self-adhesive surface on one side, attached to the back of posters, flyers and tickets and affixed to all kinds of surfaces increases the visibility, durability and distribution of material promoting a theatrical production.

Closer to show time, magnets embedded as a fastening system in sign and display assemblies allow for simple release of frames and components for the addition of new promotional material at the minute if necessary. Including these additional materials inside the housings increases their longevity and improves presentation values.

On stage, ferrite block magnets can be used to join props, sets and costumes as a hidden fastening system. Props like cardboard, foam or papier-mâché spears, table settings and decorative arrangements, joined or held in place with embedded or placed block magnets allows for simple disassembly and efficient storage, reducing labour hours and shop soiling of the items.

Small low priced permanent and removable ferrite block magnets are also used to join or hold in place segments of theatrical costumes. As a hidden fixing system, magnets can be used to secure coats, wigs, helmets and crowns and jewellery. A carefully placed block magnets here and there, sewn into the actors hair or secreted between layers of clothing allows the show to go on. Break a leg!

Smaller ferrite block magnets are commonly used in DC motors, as sensors and in various hand crafts. Any machining of ferrite blocks must be done with a diamond wheel, ideally before magnetisation, as they are hard and brittle.
