This rare earth disc has a diameter of 3mm and a height of 1mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 3798 Gauss and a pull force of 117 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number D-D3H1-N45.
These strong rare earth disc magnets are made from N45 grade Neodymium material. Small magnets such as these may be tiny in size however they are super strong relative to the less powerful magnetic materials such as Ferrite or Samarium cobalt magnets. Permanent magnets come in a range of sizes however these tiny discs are unlikely to be suitable for heavy duty applications. They can be used by themselves or in multiples, allowing you to adjust how much magnetic power you need on a very subtle level by adding or subtracting magnetic material to adjust the magnetic force to your needs. Although you may not consider the hold of 117 grams to be extremely strong it is considerable when their miniature proportions are taken into account. These small magnets are a craft makers dream. They strong magnets that can easily hidden from view in delicate artworks. Neodymium disc magnets are key components in all sorts or modern products and can be found in anything from electric motors to communication equipment. The Neodymium magnetic material is nickel coated to provide good resistance to the corrosive effects of humid environments and the chrome finish can be quite useful for aesthetic appeal.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
