Neodymium Disc Magnet - 5mm x 4mm | N50

Magnetic Product Description:

This neodymium magnetic disc has a diameter of 5mm and a height of 4mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 6123 Gauss and a pull force of 0.898 kilos. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number D-D5H4-N50.

Uses for our rare earth disc magnets:

The Neodymium material used in the manufacture of this small Disc-shaped magnet is far stronger than any other type of magnetic material. Even small-sized Neodymium magnets have enough power to hold many times their own weight. Rare Earth magnets can be used as a replacement for thumbtacks and glue to display art, hold reminders and lists to the fridge or to attach educational material to a magnetic whiteboard in the office. Photos and mementos displayed with magnets remain intact and free of holes and piercing damage. This circular disc magnet has a relatively large height dimension for a disc, which makes it suitable for fitment into round drill holes, in a similar way to cylindrical magnets. Magnets recessed with glue into drilled material can act as a join point with metal or with another magnet. Strong Neodymium magnets used in this way can become simple and convenient closure devices on draws, cupboards and storage spaces.

Magnetic Mitre Box

I use these guys to create a magnetic fence on mitre Jigs for cutting precise angles. The saw sticks to the fence to keep it aligned.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
