Neodymium Cylinder Magnet - 5mm x 10mm | N50

Magnetic Product Description:

This popular rare earth cylinder has a diameter of 5mm and a height of 10mm. It is an N50 grade rare earth magnet. It has a magnetic flux reading of 7031 Gauss and a pull force of 1.2 kgs. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number C-D5H10-N50.

Uses for our rare earth cylinder magnets:

Rarely are the dimensions this straight forward, allowing you the luxury of putting your calculator back in the draw. There is a surprisingly simple joy in using ‘whole’ dimensions, where the diameter is simply half the height. Rare Earth magnets with these types of dimensions are always in high demand particularly with those customers that are new to using magnets. There is a certain comfort in handling a new material in dimensions which are comfortable and easily understood.
This small Neodymium cylinder is a popular size as it is suitable for embedding into the side of standard thicknesses of materials such as wood, acrylic sheet and MDF whilst also allowing for good clearance on either side.
Reed switches, as you may remember from your high school days, are a switch that operates based on the proximity of magnets. There are countless products that use reed switches, from security devices and model railways to the magical way your laptop knows to turn on when you open the screen. These all rely on the simple but highly consistent and reliable power of magnets.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
