Neodymium Cylinder Magnet - 6.85mm x 15mm | N50M | High Temperature ≤100ºC

Magnetic Product Description:

This popular Rare Earth cylinder magnet has a diameter of 6.85mm and a height of 15mm. It is an N50M grade magnet, which enables it to withstand temperatures of up to ≤100ºC. It has a magnetic flux reading of 7085 Gauss and a pull force of 1.82kg. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number C-D6.85H15-N50M.

Uses for our Rare Earth cylinder magnets:

Rare earth cylinders are components in all sorts of electronic devices and over time the original magnet that is housed within the device may corrode or be broken. We are frequently contacted by customers who have unfortunately encountered these issues and would like to locally source a replacement magnet.

Another common enquiry is from customers looking to upgrade a magnet that has come as standard within a device. Lower grade and quality magnets are often used as the standard component in larger devices. The performance of the overall product can oftentimes be greatly improved by simply replacing this with a stronger neodymium magnet of a higher grade and therefore stronger pull force.

This rare-earth rod magnet has been made of N50M magnetic material, allowing it to operate at higher temperatures than standard Neodymium material. A full chart of operating temperatures can be found in the links below. It is also worth considering using an alternative type of magnet for high-temperature applications, it may be more appropriate to use Ferrite, Alnico or Samarium Cobalt magnetic material.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
