Neodymium Disc Magnet - 15mm x 5mm

Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet N42 Description:

This Neodymium Rare Earth Magnetic Disc is extremely strong for its size due to the N42 grade magnetic material used. This powerful Neodymium Magnet has a pull force of 5.48 KG. It has a diameter of 15mm and a height of 5mm. This permanent magnet is axially magnetised and has a copper coating for corrosion resistance.

Uses for our Strong Neodymium Disc Magnets:

Neodymium discs are versatile products that can be used within most cutting edge industries. This is due to their unrivalled size-to-strength ratio. These specific magnets are only 15mm in diameter and 5mm thick, but their pull force is an incredible 5.48kg! Rare Earth magnets such are incredibly strong for their size so they operate reliably in situations where accuracy and precision are required within a small space.
This powerful rare earth disc magnet can be recessed within a material such as a timber panel. With the magnet flush to the surface, it can hold something in place or act as a sensor. The direction of the magnetic field is projected from the circular area and can interact with metal or other magnetic material. Other applications for these strong magnets include; wall stud finders, metal detectors, tool holders, water conditioning apparatus and holding instruments. They also have many uses in the arts, crafts and hobby industries.

Nice magnets

These are nice magnets, and they are pretty strong. However, 3 of the 4 magnets I bought broke within the first day of arrival. I was shocked to see that me putting them slowly back together could break them.

AMF Reply: Thank you for your feedback! Yes, it's important to follow the included Magnet Handling Guide to eliminate the chance of breakage.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
