Diameter (Inner/Outer) 11mm - 20mm

The magnets included in this size range are quite diverse and they include Neodymium magnets, Ferrite magnets and Alnico magnets. There are also a number of magnetic products from our home and office magnet range including pin magnets, button magnets and magnetic patches. The smallest of our Neodymium pot magnets is also featured in the range alongside a couple of small Alnico pot magnets.

Neodymium magnets

This category is dominated by Neodymium magnets and for good reason. Since their introduction to the market Neodymium magnets have become the most widely used type of permanent magnet. This is in most part due to their high-power magnetic strength. Neodymium magnets have a magnetic energy product which is 10 times that of its closest rival, the Ferrite magnet.

Commonly referred to as either a Rare Earth magnet or Neodymium magnet, these are a man made alloy of Neodymium, Iron, and Boron. These magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet available however they do have a couple of drawbacks.
Neodymium is a porous material and requires a coating, most commonly Nickel, to protect it from corrosion in ambient humidity. Rare earth magnets are susceptible to corrosion and even with such coatings they can fail if exposed to adverse conditions.

There are a number of coatings available and they each provide different levels of protection along with other qualities. You can view the magnets available in each coating by using the drop down “Coating” option at the top of the web page. Furthermore you can look at the different coatings available for magnets in this size range by selecting from the filters on the left panel of the page.

Small magnetic products

This 11mm - 20mm size range features a number of our Home, School and Office products. We have an extensive portfolio of small magnets that are ideal for use as fridge magnets or whiteboard magnets. Both the button magnets and pin magnets listed in this size range boast Neodymium magnets in their construction. This means they provide exceptional holding capacity when compared to Ferrite magnets which are often used for this type of product. They perform excellently on thin steel surfaces such as fridges and whiteboards where lesser magnets sometimes fail.

This range also includes a few examples of small pot magnets. Holding pot magnets are incredibly versatile and user friendly as they come with a ready made means of attaching them to non magnetic objects. Each pot magnet has a hole, threaded hole or male thread and they can be affixed with a screw or bolt to just about anything. Check out our full range of Pot magnets, where you will find many more specialised attachments.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
