This pair of Rare Earth disc magnets have a diameter of 12mm and a height of 1mm. They have the 3M adhesive on each opposite of the pair of magnets. The adhesive has a thickness of 0.06 mm.
Magnetic attachment usually requires a ferrous metal surface to effect a magnetic bond. These paired disc magnets, however, have opposing North and South poles which naturally attract to each other and have an adhesive on the reverse side. This means the requirement for a surface with metal content to bond with becomes obsolete.
By using the self-adhesive back to attach one magnet to one surface and the opposing magnet to another, an attractive bond is created between the opposite pole magnets without a metal surface present.
The AMF range of adhesive-backed, matching pole magnets has transformed how and where a magnetic bond is considered and used. By combining the power of Rare Earth material with paired opposite pole magnets that have their own adhesive, any type of surfaces and most materials can attach or bond together magnetically. This type of magnetic product can replace the traditional tools for attachment that include safety pins, screws, nails and staples. Decorations for different events or seasonal fashion accessories, for instance, can become interchangeable or removable when matching pairs of self-adhering magnets are their means of attachment.
The high-quality adhesive is suitable for lighter items up to 500g in weight. Other AMF paired magnet products with wider or thicker dimensions can offer stronger hold or, for some applications, more magnets can be attached to increase overall holding power to accommodate heavier items. For attaching or suspending very large or heavy items, a North/South pair of Neodymium Pot Magnets with a countersunk screw hole may be more suitable. Opposing pole Magnets attached with screws can better withstand repeated removal and reattachment forces that, over time, may cause a self-adhesive glue to fail.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
