Uses for our rare earth cylinder magnets:

Industrial maintenance companies provide specialist asset repair and asset management services to mining, heavy industry, manufacturing and the utilities sector. The mobile tradespeople and their trade assistants arrive in large trucks filled with tools and equipment, including plenty of magnets. These neodymium cylinder 12mmx20mm magnets are among the many reached for.

For these tradespeople, who won’t know exactly how they will effect the repair or service until they carry out an on-site inspection and assessment, magnets offer unique fixing, holding, and locking and release properties invaluable in an out of workshop, sometimes remote location.

Necessity is the mother of invention, often requiring creative thinking, a toolbox with magnetic options and a determination to complete the required task. Magnets can be used initially to set up a quick temporary shade cover between the structure under repair to the maintenance truck. Just slap the magnets onto the plastic sheeting between the structures. How easy is that?

The shade protects the workers, the repair and the equipment from roasting direct sunlight. It protects from light showers of rain as well. Without magnetic engagement, it might be too difficult to set the shade cover onto the structure under repair. The shade cloth comes down easily, with no puncture marks and wraps up for next time.

Magnets of many kinds are deployed throughout the tools and equipment many of the tradespeople rely on to effect the repairs and servicing tasks. For regulating the movement of components within machines magnets have always played a vital role. For intuitive power relating to attraction and repulsion at known force fields, magnets have no peer. They assist with the smooth delivery of mechanical power and often also operate as a clutch or fail safe role, preventing full power being delivered to the repair or the machines motor in an emergency.

Magnets housed in apparatus are often engaged as clamps for securing equipment like drill assemblies or hoses to the structure itself. In event of unexpected force, like a jamming event, the magnetic clamps will give at a known pull force, diffusing the energy that could otherwise damage the structure or the equipment. When loading the truck for another repair or maintenance task in far flung parts of the country, experienced tradespeople check for themselves that the magnets, including 12mmx20mm neodymium cylinders, have been packed for the journey ahead.

A favourite with joiners, cabinet makers, renovators, office and shop fitters. Also used by screen, digital printers, industrial suppliers and for many general applications.

Excellent product, will be repeat customer

I had a client ask me to make two individual 500x500 end grain cutting boards that he could join together when he wanted to BBQ a suckling pig. After some research into the quickest, easiest method of achieving this I settled on Neodymium cylinder magnets. Once I made the boards I marked out and drilled the holes of the magnets, set them in place with casting resin, and voila, it's like magic. Satisfied client, satisfied me.

I have since purchased some more to mount into the back of a strip of leftover Red Ironbark from our kitchen renovation which I am going to stick on the wall over my prep station and then I can stick my collection of kitchen knives against it and make it look like they're just hanging off the timber. It will really set the room off.

I couldn't believe we had someone like AMF Magnetics operating locally - I was expecting to have to buy on ebay from China or Taiwan and wait weeks to get something which inevitably would fail to live up to the expectation. Really satisfied with the service and product from AMF.

NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
