This rare earth disc has a diameter of 25.4mm and a height of 12.7mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 4450 Gauss and a pull force of 18kg. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 20005
On a recent visit to a water treatment company website that use magnets, including these neodymium disc magnets (product code 20005), we were struck by the usefulness of magnets and water purification.
Using powerful magnets, this Australian company has designed and built devices for treating water with serious problems, whether in the home or heavy and light industry. (For an example of AMF working with the coal industry on water treatment issues read our feature article on the Magnetic Grate Assembly).
The device that captured our imagination on this occasion was an impressively muscular looking contraption about the size of a telephone book. It is very securely, tightly clamped around the outside of a polyethylene (common) water pipe, 50mm in diameter.
The powerful magnets, applying their force through the pipe surface, literally break down undesirable molecules in the water. These undesirables include heavy metals, salt and scale among others. Scale, (incrustation inside boiler) is rust to you and I.
Note well, this device dismantles impure molecules in the water using powerful magnet force without breaching the fabric or material surface of the plumbing system or its associated apparatus. This purification can turn hard water into soft water, prolonging the life of all surfaces and appliances in contact with the water and improving the wellbeing of plants and animals ingesting the water. Magnets and water purification go very well together indeed.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
