Alnico Magnets

Alnico Magnets were one of the first magnets available on the market. They are the weakest of permanent magnets and have a magnetic field which is easily prone to demagnetisation. Alnico magnets have largely been replaced by stronger magnets such as Neodymium (Rare Earth) in industrial settings. However, they have excellent temperature stability and very good corrosion resistance. Their mechanical strength is greater than both Ferrite and Rare Earth magnets.

Uses for Alnico Magnets:

Alnico Block and Horseshoe Magnets are often used by teachers and education facilities for experiments that demonstrate magnetic fields and properties. Alnico Cylinders are popularly used by guitarists as guitar pickups. If you require Magnets for manufacturing purposes, Alnico Pot Magnets are great for holding applications, jigs and fixtures.

Alnico magnets properties:

  • ¬†Produced by the casting or powder metallurgical techniques.
  • Chemical composition: Al-Ni-Fe-Co.
  • Very hard and brittle.
  • Poor resistance to demagnetization.
  • Produce good flux density at a reasonable cost.
  • Excellent stability over a wide temperature range.
