Magnetic Product Description:

This neodymium magnetic block has a height of 5.6mm, width of 2mm and a length of 3mm. It has N48 grade and  a pull force of 1.06 kilos. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number B-W2H5.6L3-N48.

 

Uses for our rare earth block magnets:

Neodymium blocks are suited to holding applications where their relatively large pole surface area provides broad contact with a flat metal surface. This physical property is also helpful in devices that are used for metal detection, metal retrieval or equipment such as microphones and alarms where electromagnetic fields need to be detected over a relatively wide area and then transmitted on to monitoring equipment.
Block magnets are also the ideal shape to fit neatly into a length of steel channel. The block can be fixed into the channel with an adhesive. These so-called Channel Magnets are the basis of many magnetic door-latch products and magnetic tool holders. The edge of the metal channel ideally sits just proud of the magnetic face and protects the magnet from being damaged when the door is closed or a tool is attached.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
