Weight 1.69g
Gauss 2166
Grade N45
Coating Nickel (NiCuNi)
Direction of Magnetisation Through Height
Dimensions Height:2mm, Outside Diameter:12mm
*Measured against up to 10mm mild steel.

The Neodymium Disc Magnet – 12mm x 2mm (N45) is a compact yet high-performance rare earth magnet designed for applications where strong holding power is required in a slim profile. Manufactured from premium neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) and graded N45, this magnet delivers excellent strength relative to its size.

With a 12mm diameter and 2mm thickness, this disc magnet is ideal for precision projects, engineering applications, crafts, prototyping, and discreet mounting solutions where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised. The magnet is axially magnetised (through the height), providing strong attraction on both flat circular faces.

Finished with a durable Nickel (NiCuNi) coating, this magnet offers improved corrosion resistance and a smooth, professional appearance suitable for both functional and visible applications.

Key Features

Diameter: 12mm

Thickness: 2mm

Grade: N45

Material: Neodymium (NdFeB)

Magnetisation Direction: Axial (through thickness)

Coating: Nickel (NiCuNi)

Profile: Thin, low-profile disc magnet with high strength

Common Applications

Engineering and mechanical assemblies

DIY and craft projects

Electronics and prototyping

Magnetic closures and fixings

Model making and hobby use

Sensors, displays, and light-duty industrial applications

Despite its small size, this 12mm x 2mm neodymium disc magnet delivers impressive holding force, making it a versatile choice for professional and hobbyist use alike.

⚠️ Warning: Neodymium magnets are very strong. Handle with care to avoid injury or damage to surrounding objects. Not suitable for children.

NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
