Magnetic Product Description:

This neodymium magnetic disc has a diameter of 5mm and a height of 3mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 5070 Gauss and a pull force of 0.657 kilos. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number D-D5H3-N42.

Uses for our small rare earth disc magnets:

This tiny Neodymium disc magnet has much more magnetic power than its small dimensions would suggest. Rare Earth magnetic material is the strongest magnetic material in production and this N542 Grade disc magnet is a typical example that can hold many times its own weight. Small disc magnets are ideal for securing thin materials to steel or other magnetic surfaces. Filing cabinets, refrigerators and the like are ideal for this purpose and a small disc magnet like this 3mm thick item will secure notices, reminders, artwork or even calendars to these surfaces easily. Many AMF customers involved in artistic projects find these strong, yet unobtrusive Neodymium disc magnets ideal for their purposes. Some customers use glue to attach the magnet to their art and others arrange magnets on each side of an opening on their work so it can close magnetically. Small, powerful Neodymium magnets make it possible to achieve adhesion that is largely invisible and that would otherwise be impossible using traditional methods.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
