Ring Magnet Assembly – OD100mm x ID60mm x H30mm | N52 | 12 Segments | Copper Housing
The Ring Magnet Assembly combines 12 x N52 Neodymium arc magnets within a 3mm-thick copper mounting ring, creating a compact circular magnetic assembly for integration into custom equipment and engineering projects.
Each magnet segment spans 30°, with all 12 segments forming a complete ring measuring 100mm outside diameter × 60mm inside diameter × 30mm high. The copper housing increases the assembly’s total outside diameter to 106mm—an important dimension when designing mounting spaces or checking equipment compatibility.
The magnets feature a Nickel–Copper–Nickel (NiCuNi) coating, providing a smooth metallic finish and helping protect their surfaces. The specified pole arrangement is north polarity facing outwards and south polarity facing inwards.
Key Features and Benefits
-
N52 Neodymium magnets: High-grade Rare Earth magnets provide strong magnetic performance within a compact assembly.
-
12-piece segmented construction: Twelve 30° arc magnets form a complete 360° ring.
-
Copper mounting housing: A 3mm-thick outer copper ring supports and retains the magnet segments.
-
106mm total outside diameter: Includes the 100mm magnet ring and 3mm copper housing on both sides.
-
60mm central opening: Provides clearance for compatible shafts, tubes or other components, subject to installation requirements.
-
30mm assembly height: Suitable for designs requiring a defined axial depth.
-
NiCuNi-coated magnets: A Nickel–Copper–Nickel coating helps protect the magnet surfaces and provides a clean metallic finish.
-
Defined pole orientation: North polarity faces the outside of the magnet ring, while south polarity faces the central opening.
Applications
This N52 segmented ring magnet assembly can be considered for engineering projects requiring a circular magnetic arrangement with a central opening. Potential applications include:
-
Custom magnetic assemblies: Integration into purpose-designed equipment and fixtures.
-
Research and development: Evaluation of circular magnetic arrangements and interactions with other components.
-
Industrial equipment: Installation in compatible machinery requiring a segmented Rare Earth magnet ring.
-
Sensor development: Testing magnetic sensing arrangements where the specified pole orientation suits the design.
-
Educational demonstrations: Exploring segmented magnet construction and magnetic polarity.
Suitability depends on the required magnetic field distribution, clearances, mechanical retention and operating conditions. Confirm these requirements before incorporating the assembly into your design.
Dimensions and Mounting Considerations
The magnet ring outside diameter is 100mm, while the copper housing adds 3mm of radial thickness around the outside, bringing the overall outside diameter to 106mm.
Use 106mm as the external fitment dimension when planning an enclosure or mounting location. The central opening measures 60mm, and the assembly height is 30mm. Allow appropriate clearance for installation and confirm dimensional tolerances where a precise fit is required.

Handling and Safe Use
N52 Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic attraction. Keep fingers clear of trapping points and prevent the assembly from snapping against steel surfaces or other magnets.
Rare Earth magnets are brittle and can chip or fracture under impact. Handle the assembly carefully and protect the coated magnet surfaces during installation. Keep away from children, sensitive electronics and medical implants that may be affected by magnetic fields.
Confirm the assembly’s temperature limits, environmental compatibility and mounting requirements before use.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.
Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.
Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
