Neodymium Ring Magnet - (OD) 30mm x (ID) 12mm x (H) 5mm | N38
Product Code 23003E
Pull Force* 10.11 kg
Grade N38
Coating Nickel (NiCuNi)
Dimensions Outside Diameter:30mm, Inside Diameter:12mm, Thickness:5mm
Gauss -2041
Direction of Magnetisation Axially (through height)
*Measured against up to 10mm mild steel.

This Neodymium Ring Magnet measures 30mm outer diameter (OD), 12mm inner diameter (ID), and 5mm thickness (H). Manufactured from powerful N38 Grade Rare Earth Neodymium (NdFeB) material, this magnet is axially magnetised, meaning the North and South poles are located on the two flat circular faces.

Identified by AMF Magnetics Part Number 23003E, this compact yet powerful ring magnet delivers strong magnetic performance while offering the versatility of a central mounting hole. The ring design makes it ideal for applications where the magnet needs to fit over shafts, spacers, posts, or locating lugs without requiring adhesives or mechanical fasteners.

Key Features

N38 Grade Neodymium Rare Earth Magnet.

Dimensions: 30mm OD x 12mm ID x 5mm Thick.

Axially Magnetised (through the thickness).

Strong magnetic field for its size.

Ring design allows mounting over non-ferrous shafts and locating posts.

Compact and lightweight construction.

Suitable for industrial, commercial, engineering, and DIY applications.

Common Applications

Neodymium ring magnets are widely used in applications where a central opening is required for positioning, alignment, mounting, or integration into mechanical and electronic systems.

Popular uses include:

Electronic sensors and proximity switches.

Audio equipment and speaker assemblies.

Electric motors and generators.

Position sensing devices.

Robotics and automation systems.

Magnetic couplings.

Scientific instruments and laboratory equipment.

Process monitoring and control systems.

Engineering prototypes and product development.

Custom magnetic assemblies and fixtures.

The 12mm centre hole allows the magnet to be mounted onto non-magnetic shafts, plastic locating lugs, or purpose-built housings, making installation simple while eliminating the need for adhesives that can fail over time.

Why Choose Neodymium Ring Magnets?

Neodymium magnets are the strongest commercially available permanent magnets and offer exceptional magnetic performance in compact sizes. While a ring magnet contains less magnetic material than a solid disc magnet of the same outer diameter, the centre opening provides valuable design flexibility that often outweighs the slight reduction in magnetic mass.

The ring configuration allows engineers and designers to create lighter, more efficient assemblies while maintaining strong magnetic performance. This makes neodymium ring magnets particularly valuable in electronic devices, sensing applications, automation equipment, and precision engineering projects.

Technical Information

Material: Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB)

Grade: N38

Magnetisation Direction: Axial

Outer Diameter: 30mm

Inner Diameter: 12mm

Thickness: 5mm

Shape: Ring Magnet

AMF Magnetics Part Number: 23003E

Important Handling Information

Neodymium magnets are extremely powerful and should be handled with care. Avoid impacts with other magnets or steel objects, as chipping may occur. Keep magnets away from sensitive electronic devices, magnetic storage media, and individuals with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices.

Small magnets can present a swallowing hazard and should be kept out of reach of children.

NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
