Secondary Glazing Made Easy - DIY Like a Pro!

Secondary Glazing Made Easy - DIY Like a Pro!

Who says secondary glazing has to be a daunting, wallet-draining project? Forget the pros and overpriced installs - you can do it yourself, and we’re here to show you how! With just a bit of magnetic magic and a few simple tools, your home can enjoy better insulation and reduced noise in no time.

Don’t believe us? Check out our handy video that walks you through the whole process, step by step. Armed with the instructions below and the video as your guide, you’ll be a secondary-glazing DIY master by the end of the day.

What You’ll Need: Magnetic Tape

Before You Start:

  1. Cut Your Perspex:
Measure your window dimensions with precision. Cut your Perspex sheet to match, leaving a small gap (3mm–5mm) around the edges to allow for natural expansion and contraction.

  1. Clean Your Window Frame:
Wipe down the inner surfaces of your window frames using isopropyl alcohol or a similar cleaner. Removing dirt, grease and dust creates a strong adhesive bond. Let the frames dry completely before moving on.

Installation Instructions:

1. Apply PART A to Your Perspex Sheet:

Measure each side of your Perspex sheet. Cut strips of PART A magnetic tape to fit each edge precisely.

Peel off the adhesive backing and firmly apply the strips along the sheet’s edges without leaving gaps. Trim any excess tape for a neat finish.

2. Attach PART B to PART A:

Cut strips of PART B magnetic tape to match the lengths of PART A. Magnetically attach PART B (grooved side) to PART A (smooth side). Make sure the adhesive side of PART B faces outward.

3. Install Your Secondary Glazing:

Remove the adhesive backing from PART B, revealing the sticky side. Press the Perspex sheet firmly into the cleaned window frame, ensuring all edges adhere securely.
