Magnetic Product Description:
This ferrite block magnet is 16mm long, 13mm wide and 4mm thick with a 4mm hole in the centre. With a magnetic flux reading of 1941 Gauss it has a pull force of 38 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 12145.
Uses for our ferrite block magnets:
As the price of houses and apartments increase, the size of these spaces shrink. To save on space or to provide accommodation for visitors’, people sometimes install wall beds in their homes. That is, beds of all sizes reside in a purpose built wall void or cavity during the day. They are lowered like a drawbridge at night to perform like a regular bed.
Many wall beds deploy magnets, including these 16mmx13mmx4mm with a 4mm void, ferrite block magnets as hold and release fastening agents. Magnets performing as fastening agents offer significant advantages over traditional fixing methods like screws, nuts and bolts or tricky mechanical lock and release mechanisms. Magnets constitute an effective, simple intuitive open and soft close protocol. Beds and mattresses can be heavy. A tricky lock and release mechanism that is difficult to operate drives people mad, especially at the start or end of the day.
To withdraw the bed from the wall into a horizontal (down) position, magnets embedded in the outside of the bed frame disengage from magnets embedded in the bed-sized wall void at a known pull force. An intuitive release or open protocol. When the bed is later returned into its vertical position, creating all that floor space, the same magnets reassert their magnetic drawing power as the magnets approach each other, engaging positively and securely until the release protocol is performed again.
This is a strong selling point when demonstrated with one hand on the showroom floor. Ferrite block magnets are permanent, removable, come in a wide variety of sizes and pull forces to suit differently abled people and are very reasonably priced.
In order to camouflage the underside of the bed, not the most popular decorative touch after all, timber veneers with mirrors, flat screen televisions and even apparently bookcases (!) can be affixed to make the room look bed-less, which, with the help of these hidden ferrite block magnets, I guess it is. Smaller ferrite block magnets are commonly used for hobbies & hand crafts.
