This ferrite disc magnet has a diameter of 8mm and a thickness of 5mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 1909 Gauss and a pull force of 230 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 10155.
Building with timber is still popular, even though many different types of materials, especially all types of plastics and other synthetic building materials are making inroads into the construction process. Notwithstanding the cost effectiveness and versatility of these newcomers, people still love timber.
In order to better compete with the new materials on offer, makers of timber products are turning to magnets as a fastening method over traditional fasteners like screws and nails. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description.
