Neodymium Countersunk Pot Magnet – 80mm x 18mm | N35 | 280kg Pull Force
The Neodymium Countersunk Pot Magnet – 80mm x 18mm delivers a rated pull force of 280kg in a robust mounting assembly. Combining an N35 neodymium magnet with a protective steel pot, this powerful Rare Earth magnet is suited to demanding holding, positioning and removable fastening applications on suitable steel surfaces.
Measuring 80mm in diameter and 18mm in height, this countersunk mounting magnet features a 10.5mm through-hole opening into a 16.5mm countersink with a 90° angle. The countersunk hole accommodates a compatible flat-head screw, allowing the magnet to be mechanically secured to a fixture or component.
The steel pot helps protect the magnet and concentrates magnetic attraction at the working face, providing strong holding performance in a compact assembly.
Key Features
-
280kg rated pull force: Powerful direct pull capacity under suitable test conditions.
-
N35 neodymium: Strong permanent Rare Earth magnetic performance.
-
80mm diameter x 18mm height: Substantial mounting footprint for demanding applications.
-
Countersunk fixing hole: 10.5mm bore, 16.5mm countersink diameter and 90° countersink angle.
-
Steel pot construction: Helps protect the magnet and direct magnetic force towards the contact surface.
Applications for an 80mm Countersunk Pot Magnet
This heavy-duty countersunk neodymium pot magnet is a practical choice for workshop jigs, industrial fixtures, removable panels, equipment positioning and custom magnetic fastening systems. Its screw-mount design allows it to become part of an assembly that can attach magnetically to a compatible steel surface.
Pull Force and Installation
The 280kg pull force is a direct pull rating, rather than a working load limit for every installation. Actual holding capacity depends on steel thickness, surface condition, coatings, air gaps and load direction. Vertical mounting, sideways forces and leverage can significantly reduce holding performance.
Select a screw that matches the countersink dimensions and sits flush with or below the contact face. Avoid overtightening, and test the complete assembly under its intended operating conditions before use.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.
Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.
Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
